Los Angeles, CA
Click the squirrel to return Home.
Dec.
6th we went to the Crystal Cathedral to see their spectacular
performance of "The Glory of Christmas." The performance was
incredible especially the human angels they had flying at least 30 ft.
over our heads.
On Christmas Day we played a few sets of Tennis! We try to play as much as possible.
These
are the Los Angeles squirrels. They seem to have a reddish tint
to their fur instead of the white that the NY squirrels have. Very
Cute!!! I must make a coffee table book of Squirrels around the
U.S.
Our apartment for the month of December at 14455 Dickens St. in Sherman Oaks.
The view from our window.
After
visiting the San Diego area we decided to return to Los Angeles and
give it a fair try. We rented a furnished apartment in Sherman
Oaks (one of the many suburban areas of L.A.) for the month of
December. This meant that we would be spending Christmas here by
ourselves.
We
went to Christmas Parties with Brenda. We went Caroling at the
retirement home for the famous. We attended a few great church
services. We even auditioned for a reality show called "Sell This"
(we still don't know what's happening here - but probably not.)
Then with the nice weather most of the time we were able to bike
ride and play tennis.
That's
it - No Moon Bouncing! We can't live here!! Actually we had
to google "Moon Bouncing" to see what they meant. It is still
funny.
We
did decide that Los Angeles wasn't for us - at least at this point in
our life. There is so much congestion and the stress of living in
it, unless your job dictates for you to be in it - WHY?
We
chose the East Coast of Florida to live. We need to drive back
there and choose a city. It will most likely be somewhere between
Daytona and West Palm.
But we are sure going to miss these really super cute California Squirrels!
Another
nice aspect of hitting the California Coast was to have a chance to
visit with friends that I haven't seen in awhile. We went to
Redondo Beach with Barbara & Steve Gelnett where they treated us to a
wonderful seafood dinner on the pier (with an incredible view).
I (Christine) know Barbara from the days in Virginia Beach. Barbara use to run The Fire Escape Ministry.
Brenda & Christine at a special showing of "The Nativity" sponsored by Inter-Mission where Brenda is the director. (Dec. 5th)
Dec. 31, 2006 - New Years Eve!
This
is the day we left California driving Eastward. We made it to
Kingsman, AZ for the evening. When traveling like we have been
holidays, weekdays, and weekends all blend. The next night we made
it to Flagstaff, AZ. Then to Albuquerque, NM the next
night. During these three evenings of driving the temperatures
severely dropped to 10 degrees with snow. Although never before
had we seen such incredible sunsets. It literally was as if the
sky was ablaze.
These are the amazing sunsets in AZ & NM along the famous Rte 66 (now mostly Rte 40).
These crosses are sporadically planted in different states along many major highways throughout our journey.
We diligently continued our journey East each day. Next was Oklahoma City. Then Memphis, TN is where Lil Cooper celebrated his 100,000 mile-day. You would never know it, because he is still going strong as if he just rolled off the showroom floor.
Nashville, TN
was the next stop. I (Christine) was looking forward to a quick
stop here to visit with friends that I hadn't seen since Regent
University and also to visit Christ Church that I use to attend when I
lived in Nashville 10 years ago.
Belinda,
Christine, & Therese (Trace is taking the pic) We all met for
dinner and had such a great time seeing each other and catching up after
so many years. It is such a breath of fresh air to meet with such
Godly faith-filled women.
The Gotham City Bell South building still stands!
Next
we left Nashville and made a little detour North to Hebron, KY to visit
Geri, Rich, Mercy & Christopher. Geri is one of the very few
people that I would venture North for on a Southbound destination!!
Geri, Rich, Mercy & Christopher Campbell.
We
stayed with the "Campbell family" for the whole weekend where we got
renewed and refreshed to continue the rest of the journey South to
Florida.
It
has been awhile since I (Christine) had seen Geri with whom I have been
best friends with since Bible College 20 years ago. I would need a
whole other website to tell the stories that are filled with so much
laughter, a few tears, and many dear spiritual times of fellowship with
our Lord Jesus.
Christine feeling right at home making pizza in her PJ's.
Finally we got a picture of Christopher's face!
